What is the BETA CLUB?
The National Junior Beta Club is an honor organization that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, promotes strong moral character and social responsibility, encourages service to others, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for you to develop strong interpersonal skills.
Who qualifies for membership in the SURFSIDE JUNIOR BETA CLUB?
Seventh and eighth grade students with a grade point average of 3.5 (a minimal average of 1/2 A’s and 1/2 B’s in one and two semester courses), who also exemplify strong character, and have maintained role model behavior throughout the last school year are eligible to apply for membership in the Surfside Junior Beta Club.
What are the requirements of membership?
Each member must attend at least two-thirds of our monthly meetings. Meetings will be announced on the morning announcements or via email or Remind. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in as many projects as possible since this is the key to leadership development within our organization.
What are the dues for members?
There is a fee of $25 collected prior to induction for new members. Returning members will pay $10 dues at the start of their second year. You may wish to explore the National Beta Club website at www.betaclub.org to learn more about the benefits that are included in the induction fee. T-Shirts will cost an additional $15 per shirt.
How do I become a Beta member?
Invitation for membership will be given to upcoming 7th and 8th graders during the fall. Induction of Beta members occurs in the fall of each year.
